Book of the Month (August)

We want to share monthly children’s books that explore complex topics in a way that is digestible and appropriate for younger audiences.

This month we want to recommend “Eyes that Kiss in the Corners”

Eyes that Kiss in the Corners follows a young Asian girl who celebrates the beauty of her unique features. A celebration of beauty, self-acceptance, family and identity.

We were almost brought to tears at how eloquently this topic was explored.

Personally my child comes from a mixed background and he gets to see many features. But one day heh may ask why he doesn’t have “eyes like grandma” or why his skin is “different from his cousins”

The acceptance of our features and beauty of their uniqueness is something we explore in this beautiful book
